Working on my truck again
Article Entry Date: February 8,2022
I have had this 83 Ford Ranger since my brother gave it to me around 99/2000. Unfortunately, the motor wiring caught on fire a year later, and two years after that, I purchased a 95 4.0 motor and 5-speed transmission for it. (Too much motor for the truck, very dangerous in the rain, and don't get me started about trying to drive it in the snow.)
My brother installed the motor and transmission in the truck, and my father spent several months wiring it up to the 1983 Ranger.

So far, I've had to do more wiring to the truck's motor to keep it running or make it start. And then it had an issue where it would not stay running at all.

The following items have been replaced over the last few years.
  1. Replaced seats with a '96 Ranger. (2000)
  2. Brake Booster (12/17/2013)
  3. Gas tank (2014)
  4. Fuel Pump/Filter/Float (2014)
  5. Replaced 02 Sensor for Upstream Bank 2 (Passenger side) (04/02/2014)
  6. Weather stripping around both driver and passenger door windows. (12/05/2014)
  7. Installed Toggle Switch For Idle Air Control Shutoff (RPMs running high all the time) (05/16/2015)
  8. Wired an Ignition Start Button to the dash. (Wiring issue steering column for the ignition switch) (05/29/2016)
  9. New Brakes Shoes, Rotors, and Pads (09/07/2021)
  10. Replaced Dimmer Switch (Turning Signal Switch on Steering Column) (11/11/2021)
  11. Rear Turning Signal Lamp Sockets and new light bulbs (11/11/2021)
  12. Rewired back brakes, turning signal, and parking brakes. (Had to run a wire from the steering column to the back to connect to the turning signal, which fixed the rear lights (12/05/2021).
  13. Installed and wired two LED lights to the back with a toggle on/off switch under the dash for backup light. (12/05/2021)
  14. New Blower Motor (Original motor was burning up) (01/28/2022)
  15. Blower Motor Resister (Original was burning up) (02/01/2022)
  16. Replace 02 Sensors for Downstream and Upstream Bank 1 (Driver Side) (01/21/2022)
  17. (Currently) Replacing Seals in the gearbox Lower Pitman Shaft (Powersteering fluid leaking) (02/08/2022) (Waiting on Snapring Pliers to arrive tomorrow to finish the work, and will then update this part.

Still having issues with the heater, not sure if an air leak or the rubber hose coming from the blower motor to the firewall is not allowing the heat to come back into the vents. This issue needs to be fixed for me to drive this truck in cold weather. I think I will remove the rubber hose and take it to Lowe's Hardware tomorrow to see if I can find some small plastic conduit. I can then cut the rubber hose, fit it around the plastic conduit, and provide it with better airflow than it currently has. I will post an update to this blog article when I am finished, which I am presently doing outside to remove the rubber hose from the truck, as I am heading to town tomorrow for my mother's doctor appointments. Fingers crossed.

I enjoyed writing about all this. It gives me a permanent record of everything I've done to the truck up to this point. When I do something else, I will add that in as well. Always good to have a timeline.

Second Novel

I am working on the new book, but I still haven't come up with a title for it yet.
I was hoping for 100,000 words, but I'm not sure if I'll make that goal or not. Then again, I still have seven or more chapters to go. Then I will begin the actual editing, which will be a very time-consuming process.
Wish me luck.
It is getting there, just very time-consuming, as this is the process of editing a book, but I love it....Continue reading...

Writing

This is just my experience; others have their ways of doing things, so this is mine.
#1: Pull from what you know.
Life has a way of providing us with all the information we need to develop various ways to express ourselves in story form.
From our first love, the first kiss, that particular moment we first saw the one we wanted to spend our lives with, to the birth of our child, or our first granddaughter, to getting married....Continue reading...

Gwother's farm yard friends - Poor little chicken (Story #1)

Short Funny Stories

Back many years ago, before I was even thought of, there was a young girl who loved going out playing with her pigs, chickens, and cows, and one day, while out playing, one of the cows came up to her about a chicken who had broken its foot. She rushed over to the chicken and noticed the poor little creature was surrounded by all the pigs, cows, and, of course, its chicken family....Continue reading...
